ich suche auf diesem Wege Kontakt zu Gleichgesinnten, die in WF und Umgebung leben und gerne fotografieren. Als Projekt würde ich gerne eine Gruppe aufbauen, die vorerst nur aus Frauen besteht, deren Alter bei ca. 30-40 Jahren liegt. Ob Anfängerin, Fortgeschrittene, Amateur oder Profi wäre mir egal, ebenso die Kameramarke samt Ausrüstung, sowie die Nationalität.

Mir schwebt ein einigermaßen regelmäßiges Treffen vor, wo gerne auch nur gefachsimpelt werden kann. Vorrangig würde ich aber gerne kleine Touren in die Umgebung unternehmen - sei es, um Fotos von Landschaften, Industrieanlangen anzufertigen oder um Portraits, Macros, etc.  zu erstellen. Ich denke, zu fotografieren gibt es genug.

Also, geht es euch auch so? Ist es euch zu langweilig, immer alleine mit der Kamera durch die Gegend zu ziehen? Ja? Euch kann geholfen werden - meldet euch. ;-)

Ici une première étape du travail qui a été complétée par la suite - c'était meilleur à ce stade-là, plus limpide et expressif, mais il faut bien prendre des risques pour apprendre ;-)

I've only just started processing the images, but couldn't wait to post a few from my session with Carly and Mike.

What a dynamite couple. We took advantage of a gorgeous Sunday and made our way from Indianapolis to Bloomington and back. Hope you both had as much fun as I did; I look forward to finishing up your images {and filling in more details of our day on an upcoming post}.

a few days ago i met him again. before that i sent him this pic via email to find out what he is thinking about. when we met he gave me a print of it with the title and a note one it:
"1+ mit * und geil!"
wich means he was totally hooked!

Hmm... Interesting perspective on portrait photography. I never used to take photos of people at all, but over the past few months I have been. And I let people take mine sometimes because fair is fair.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the faces I see that I'd like to photograph are strangers, and I rarely ask if it's OK, and I never take recognizable photos of people without asking. I do occasionally take them without asking if the person is not recognizable, especially if they won't obey my mental command to get out of my shot and they're not actually ruining it.

I was actually talking about this with another photographer, a friend of mine, a few hours later. Not the stolen souls thing, but the frustration of seeing perfect shots you'll never take. Part of the problem with asking a stranger if it's OK to take their photo is that the very act of asking ruins the shot - instead of being completely absorbed in whatever made them so interesting in the first place, they're instead self-conscious and waiting for their photo to be taken, trying to present themselves well, etc...

The usual response people give when I present this conundrum is to take the photo and then ask. It's a little too easy for me to put myself in the shoes of someone else and imagine how I would feel if I caught a stranger taking my photo when I hadn't been paying attention. Or being approached by a stranger telling me they'd just taken my photo without my knowledge and asking if they can keep it. I'd be a little freaked out, in most situations, although at least that reaction would be tempered by my perspective as another photographer. How much more freaked out, then, if the person had no such background?

So I go on surrepitiously peeking at shots I'll never take, and taking shots of people I know, strangers with approachable faces, and people's backs.
