Tema estrella del programa de la semana: los Switchers que recién empiezan en el mundo de MacOS X Leopard, y los que os estoy pensando en probarlo ;)

Empezamos hablamos del diseño, lo primero que llama la atención a un maquero potencial. Sin embargo hablamos de la importancia y superioridad del software de MacOS X, muy por encima del propio diseño.

Os hablamos del Finder y las “similitudes” con el Explorador de Windows. La integración de todos los programas que nos trae de serie el Leopard, que nos ofrece la genuina Experiencia Mac. Los problemas que te puede causar un Mac de principio comparado con los de un Pc. La Seguridad en el Mac. Algunos atajos de teclado muy útiles para empezar en MacOs X. Cómo navegamos por los archivos en Leopard, la maravilla de Quicktip y de Spotlight. Cómo instalamos y desintalamos una aplicación en un Mac. Y un buen repaso a lo que encontramos en las preferencias del sistema, explicando lo que es Exposé y Spaces. Como chatear y hacer videconferencias en un Mac. Qué es Time Machine y cómo funciona. El mantenimiento del sistema de tu Mac.

Para terminar explico la historia del misterioso y horrible nick que luzco en la blogosfera: Cortador.

For Youtube the featured or spotlight video was Don't Hassel the Hoff, David Hasselhoff which was an interview in San Francisco with the Hoffmeister.  The K.I.T. car was there!  I rated it 2 stars.

Tutor: What's this?

Me: Guitar pick.

Tutor: Why is it thick?

Me: The last one I had was thin so it broke easily, that's why I bought a thicker one.

Tutor: Only Bass Guitarists have the thick ones. You are trying to play an Acoustic.

Me: Really, Sorry I didn't know that. Who is this Bass Guitarist?

Tutor: A Bass Guitarist is one who ... sigh ... never mind. For now let's say you are not the Bass Guitarist, just use this thin pick.

Hence, I stopped learning music and got married. Well, It doesn't sound exactly like that but me being useless in music learning and the "Thick Pick" incident part is 100% true. Everything else is masala mix.

I made a second attempt with a M-Audio Keystation Keyboard connected to my Mac and tried to learn rolling my fingers on the keyboard with the aid of a Mac software called Garage Band. This time I wanted to learn music the right way by trying to understand the Musical Staff notations. Only, Whenever I saw the staff notation, all I could remember was spaghetti. But Hey, I learnt to play the Happy Birthday song somehow, that is a progress right? Time went on and I didn't go back to the music lessons and have kept the Keyboard aside hoping my daughter would pick it up and learn to play someday or may be we will learn it together. Otherwise I have to use it as a Surf board.

My learning of music remained ephemeral. Finally, I learnt to play 2 more songs. Row, Row, Row your boat and Twinkle Twinkle on my daughter's ... ahem ... Xylophone. This is the relationship between me, music and learning. You can see how dull that is.

But with Garage Band, it is very easy to compose music. Even people like me who have little to no knowledge of music can easily put together the loops of music available in the software and come up with scores that sound good.

Now, Coming to the post ( This is probably one of those post that has 90% introduction blah! and then 10% actual content) I made a Haiku called Color of Wisdom. What color will wisdom be? (no not the Wisdom tooth!).

Sucks right? (Both Haiku and the Grey Hair). So I sat down and used Garage band to come up with a small theme music for this feeling.

I wanted to relate the strings to the (Grey) hair so I used Classic Rock Guitar loops.

Today was the "dress rehearsal" for the show. I joined Maurice, Jennifer Ranck (Training Coordinator for Eastern Shore Regional Libraries), and Bobbi Newman Digital Services Librarian at the Missouri River Regional Library.

I expected to be just a causal testing of the software (TalkShoe) but Maurice dived right in and had an agenda setup and the topics were quite interesting. Everything from do librarians need survival training to Bobbi's 2.1 program to general talk about the aftermath of 23 Things here in MD (once Bobbi left the room was full of just MD trainers so we slanted the topic to us) and even a small trainer vent session. I suggested that Maurice keep the last 3 minutes of the show for the trainer vent session (will save a lot on our therapy bills).

I'm excited about this show and hope that lots of other trainers (library related or not) will join us on September 12 at 10:00 am for the first show and all the others to come.

It is a show about Training. And Libraries. And Training in Libraries.

While I was shaking my head at times due to some of the errors or misunderstanding of game mechanics, I could not help but enjoy listening to Julie and Fran talk about Warhammer Online. It reminded me that we don't all need to know the design docs inside and out, or the entire history of all MMOs, to talk with passion about a game. The factual errors are easily overlooked due to the charm and style of the podcast. Great job you two!

El Código Penal Cubano (Ley 62) establecce que "[s]e considera estado peligroso la especial proclividad en que se halla una persona para cometer delitos, demostrada por la conducta que observa en contradicción manifiesta con las normas de la moral socialista".
