La canción de Don't Look Back in Anger  fue categorizada según una encuesta en el año 2006 como una de las mejores 20 canciones de todos los tiempos (ojo, no algunos tiempos, sino todos), la cancion fue la segundo single de la banda en alcanzar el número uno en las listas de popularidad de Gran Bretaña. La letra de el canción fue compuesta por Noel Gallagher y cantada por el mismo, siendo esta cancion una de las primeras por las que se hizo famoso.

Cuando se le preguntó a Noel por el nombre de Sally el comentó "I don't actually know anybody called Sally. It's just a word that fitted, y'know, might as well throw a girl's name in there. It's gotta guarantee somebody a shag off a bird called Sally, hasn't it?"  Rápido y sencillo.

El principio de la canción tiene una clara similitud con la canción de John Lennon "Imagine", a su vez, Gallagher afirma que una parte substancial de la canción fue tomada de grabaciones de las memorias de Lennon como la parte "gonna start a revolution from me bed, cuz you said the brains I had went to my head"  fue una cita textual de una grabación de Lennon, refiriendose a sus constantes hospitalizaciones de 1969. Tambien, el coro nos remonta a la obra maestra clásica de Johan Pachelbel;El Canon D. La canción fue escrita bajo una clara influencia de drogas, a la fecha Gallagher alega desconocer su significado.

Aveces me pregunto como pueden surgir canciones tan fantásticas sin una definición clara  o un concepto definido, y sin embargo se vuelven canciones históricas. Todavía llendo más lejos; como una canción tan vaga y flotante puede ser tan buena, respuestas como "pusimos Sally porque rimaba" y "todavía no se que significa" solamente ayudan a multiplicar el pegue y el impacto que tiene la canción. Encuentro dos posibles respuestas para la interrgante;

I've been messing around with Popfly this weekend, and it's certainly great fun.  There a slew of functionality, and you can always write your own code too.

I've started with a simple asteroids-style game I've dubbed "Astropuppy", on account of the evil puppies you must shoot before they blow up your fragile spaceship.  Naturally, no game is a game without crates, so I've added in randomly spawning crates that give you health.

Dance is a form of expression, allowing one to creatively or artistically "speak" through a non-verbal language. However, dancers have often found a need to express themselves through words and writing as well.  In fact, writing can be a useful tool for dancers, teachers, and choreographers.  And, journaling or keeping a diary is a great way to preserve and organize one's thoughts, reflections, goals, and more.

Who and What

A dance teacher and friend of mine, recently wrote on her blog, Uptown Dance NJ, about ways in which a dance diary can be used for students, teachers, and professionals.  She spoke of her own methods and uses for this valuable tool and how and why she encourages her own students to keep a dance diary.

There are many types of journals from organizational (lists, schedules, data/idea collection), to pragmatic (what you did, what you'll do, achievements, failures), to idealistic (goals, dreams, ambitions), to emotional (how you felt, reflections, critiques).  And, there are many, many, many techniques for writing and keeping a journal.  Some people collect and use or sketch images, others write free-form, limit themselves to one sentence, or answer questions or write lists.  Some use a binder, others a bound book, and others use technology and computers.  In this regard, each must determine the methods that will best meet his/her needs. However, in order to encourage you to make use of a dance journal, I'd like to highlight how particular aspects of a diary could be useful to dancers and/or teachers.

Goal-oriented Writing

A Twitter pal of mine, Amber, describes how she "keeps her butt in gear" through writing down her goals and dreams.  She also uses something called a vision board which is meant to activate the law of attraction, which has a lot to do with visualizing and attracting the things we want in life by bringing attention to them. This principle can also be used in journaling, as described by Elizabeth Scott M.D. in an article about stress management.

Visualization is nothing new in dance.  We use this tool all the time when we apply imagery to perfect our technique or execution, or even practice mental rehearsal before a performance.  Writing about our goals can also be an exercise in visualization because it requires that we imagine these goals as achievable and imagine ourselves achieving them.  When we give voice to these visions on the written page, we not only allow time to focus our energy and thoughts on them, we preserve them.  It is a commitment and a promise to ourselves, more powerful than a fleeting thought, because we can look over our imaginings over again and again.

Learning and Reflection

Keeping a record of your learning process has many benefits for a dancer.  The following, from an educational website, very clearly and succinctly describes what to write in a learning journal and why it may be helpful.

WHAT TO WRITE

* "Activities"/situations/experiences that went well or were difficult

* Unexpected problems or issues e.g. solving a particular maths problem (that you had revised carefully) or explaining an idea in a group project meeting. [completing a pirouette without falling out of it; a disruptive student; difficulty remembering choreography]

* Habits that you have noticed in yourself or others (which have some relevance)

* How you feel about the way you are doing things e.g. items of understanding, clarity of thought, strength of actions, awareness.

* How effective you are e.g. using feedback from others, achieving goals (assignment deadlines, finding information in library, keeping a learning diary! etc.)

* Anything else that feels of importance to you - even though you may not understand the significance of it.

WHY DO IT?

* It helps you to learn from your successes, as well as your mistakes

* It makes it more likely that you will use what you have learned next time i.e. rather than ‘making the same mistakes’, "falling back on old habits’ etc.

* It gives you an opportunity to plan concisely what you want to do, what you want to change, etc.

· It may help you feel more in "control of your life", more positive, deepen your understanding, etc.

A person learns from successes and mistakes when he/she takes the time to reflect on them.  With a journal, dancers have the opportunity to recognize patterns in the corrections they receive, the worries or stresses that may inhibit them, and the types of images or thought processes that help them the most.  With this information dancers can then use what they've learned to solve problems, avoid injury, and improve.  In addition, a journal can aid in boosting confidence.  Even a dancer that, in the moment, or over the course of months or years, feels that they are not doing well, can look back at her recorded accomplishments and feel good about the progress made.  Looking at our successes as a whole, enables us to see the value in even the smallest of improvements.  Writing is also a way to work through emotions that otherwise we may keep bottled up.  The stress of trying to out-perform ourselves or others, please our teachers (or students), advance to the next class level, land a special role or job, and a whole host of other worries can be overwhelming for a dancer.  Putting these concerns in writing gives us a space to air them without ramification, often making them seem like they are not such a big deal after all.

Get Started!

Consistent journaling is achieved by making it a habit.  You make something a habit by first choosing to do it consistently.  It may take some real effort on your part to begin and continue your journal.  I encourage you to try to make time to write at a particular time each day, avoid distractions and situate yourself where you will be most free from interruption.  Start small.  Sometimes our intentions are too big and we end up quitting because we've bitten off more than we can chew.  Take brief moments to write a few lines about the day or the class.  You may find that over time you are able to write more and that you have discovered new ways to utilize your journal.  Also, set yourself up for success.  If you tend to enjoy typing an email more than writing a letter, you may find blogging your journal to be more productive than adding thoughts to a bound or looseleaf notebook.  Like finding the perfect pair of pointe shoes, you may even have to sample different methods until you find the right fit.

Reprise « Polémique » du titre "imagine" de John Lennon par le Groupe de Rock alternatif A Perfect Circle .

Polémique ? Parce qu’elle a dénaturé l’original en optant pour une posture mélancolique et déprimée symbolisant cette génération perdant espoir en un monde meilleur.

¿Existe el amor a primera vista? (Mmm, no...) De eso trata esta comedia romántica que cuenta la historia de cómo Rachel (Piper Perabo) conoce a Luce (Lena Headey).

Rachel está por casarse con su novio y mejor amigo, Heck (Matthew Goode). Cuando Rachel va caminando hacia el altar alcanza a ver a Luce, quien hizo los arreglos florales para la boda, y sus miradas se cruzan (y el mundo se detiene... ¡Ay! ¡Qué romántico! Pero igual sigo sin creer). Mas tarde, durante la fiesta, Luce ayuda a Rachel con un problemita con el anillo de bodas.

Semanas mas tarde, Rachel invita a Luce a cenar para emparejarla con Coop (Darren Boyd) y ahí nos enteramos que a la pelirroja le gustan las chicas (¡Sí!).

Luce se siente rápidamente atraída por Rachel (¿quién no?), mientras que esta, lucha con el hecho de comenzar a sentirse atraída por alguien más (o sea Luce, que está re buena... che, es Lena Headey después de todo).

Heck no ayuda mucho, Luce le cae bien y les arregla una salida juntas (qué gil de pizzería). Es ahí donde Rachel se da cuenta de está enamorada de Luce (y los pajaritos cantan, y los corazones se ensanchan, y las lesbianotas estamos esperando que concreten de una vez).

Los demás personajes de la historia son más bien divertidos. Tenemos a la madre de Rachel (Celia Imrie) que es la típica madre insoportable que quiere nietos a toda costa y su padre (Anthony Head) que es un marido dominado por su mujer. H (Boo Jackson) es la hermanita de Rachel, una nena muy curiosa que habla como grande (¡es lo más esta nena!). La madre de Luce (Sue Johnston) es una mujer deprimida que adora a su hija como es. Y después tenemos a Coop (Darren Boyd), un solterón mujeriego, el mejor amigo de Heck, que intenta por todos los medios de enamorar a Luce (digamos, el típico ganso canchero que cree que nos puede "curar").

Cuestiones tortescas

El primer beso de Rachel y Luce es uno de los mejores que he visto. La escena está muy bien lograda y consiguen que el espectador (espectadoras en su mayoría) salte de la alegría en ese momento.

No hay escenas de sexo (lamentablemente) y hubiera sido lindo que se extendieran más sobre la relación de las chicas (sí, deja gusto a poco la peli en este sentido). ¿Una segunda parte quizás? Ja, ja!!!

Lo otro bueno de la película es en ningún momento se ve como algo malo o extraño que la persona en discordia sea una mujer. Rachel no dice: "Oh!, no! Me enamoré de una mujer!", sino que dice "OH!, No!, me enamoré de otra persona!" (que resulta ser una mujer, lo que hace interesante a la historia, más para una película de un gran estudio). El mismo efecto parece tener en los demás personajes, salvo por la madre de Rachel que es la única a la que le parece que debe haber otros "peces machos" en el mar.

In a broad sense I agree. Except, if it was me, I would replace "consistency" with "routine". Words, as treacherous as they are, permit a chameleon-esque nature to meaning and interpretation. Consistency somehow, for me, is a more about character than behaviour. Consistency and lack of imagination, therefore are not necessarily opposites, or in a cause-effect relationship.

Routine is behavioural. It is a safe-house of sorts. And, unless you are willing to cross the boundaries of routine, there is no scope for imagination. Discipline, for example, though more respectful than routine, has the same effect. If you do not cross boundaries, there is no way to explore.

Role models, unintentionally have the same effect. Seldom do you find anyone willing to explore he essence of what makes a role-model a role model. Most people choose to emulate the act of a role model in hope of achieving a similar status. In doing this, they never consider the insignificant variable that was applicable to the role model that may not be applicable to them. That one insignificant variable that had a significant effect.

Imagination is possible in a mind that is not bound by routine or role-model emulation. A bound mind always knows the path to its destination. Imagination, then, is not necessary.

Imagination is an adventure. Those that live by acquired rules and precepts need no imagination.

"Crush" schoss Anfang September innerhalb weniger Stunden nach Erscheinen auf Platz 1 der amerikanischen itunes Downloadcharts und hielt sich dort eine beachtliche ganze Woche. In den Billboard-Charts Hot100 stieg der Debütant auf Platz 2 ein - der höchste Neueinstieg in den US-Charts seit anderthalb Jahren. Today, I want you to look a little closer at yourself. Imagine living your life like it's golden - having been tried in the fire's of life but now pure gold. Pretend it's September 30, 2028, you're on your dream vacation enjoying the day at the local shopping centre. My point is this, it wont always be night - joy comes and when it does you'll understand it better.

One great point that I love is that God exhibits his image in our desire to create, putting forth Adam's task to name the animals as an example. Tolstoy wrote about creating art with not only words, "To evoke in oneself a feeling one has experienced, and having evoked it in oneself, then by means of movement, line, colors, sounds or forms expressed in words so to transmit that feeling that others experience the same feeling--that is the activity of art." My favorite passage in this chapter was Shakespeare's brilliant picture of the process of artistic creation and naming from "A Midsummer Night's Dream":

The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling,

Doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven;

And as imagination bodies forth

The form of things unknown, the poet's pen

Turns them into shapes, and gives to airy nothing

A local habitation.

Turner goes on hashing out what art means in terms of the fall and redemption of the world, followed by some apparent examples of how the Bible gives clear models for forms of artistic expression:

• Jesus used aphorism, anaphora, metaphor, personification, allegory, analogy, and hyperbole in his teachings and parables.
• David expressed raw, honest questions and feelings of confusion, depression, awe, and praise through the poetry of the Psalms.
• Ecclesiastes portrays a fallen world, and what it would look like without the existence of God, without redemption. "The writer dared to question the significance of life if God could be presumed absent, if there was creation and fall but no redemption."
• Proverbs illustrates how art can be used to spread wisdom and common sense, intended to be beneficial to anyone willing to listen, and not always providing a direct reference to God.
• The Song of Songs is a graphic love poem.
• Job is an incredible example of drama, and poses tough questions that people struggle with all the time.
• Jeremiah and others demonstrate ways that art can be prophetic.

The grass is greener on the other side.

But is it really always that way? The grass might appear greener, but it might have its own shades of black, grey, or other colours you might not have foreseen. You often see that which you desire rather than what the actual ground reality is. An optical illusion, should I say? Mental illusion? Take your pick. It's just like those mirages, which you see in cartoons, where the oases are always filled with beautiful, semi-clad women and delicious food and drink, and which always disappear when the character approaches them.

I have always tried to put myself in someone else's shoes (not literally, of course :P), and imagined life in their own terms. Never has it been to my liking. Obviously, I do admire a few of my friends' qualities, the amount of freedom they get, or just their devilishly handsome looks :P. But there are many negative points which I would have never liked in my own life. There is always something negative along with the positive. Justifies the old sayings and theories of the balance in nature. ;) It also makes you look at life in a different way, be it good or bad. So enjoy life while you're still in it. Cheerio!

I've also often wondered how a teacher still loves to teach inspite of the deteriorating condition of the teaching staff in our country. Barring some incompetent teachers, students should not have any complaints about the quality of teaching. However, that is not what is observed in most of the schools or colleges I have been in. This has been synonymous with the advent of coaching classes, sounding the death knell for most of these government-paid, government-fed teachers. Coaching classes pay more, and get more out of their teachers, causing the scales of the students' barometer of preference to tip the wrong way.

This makes the college professors feel small, and maligned. Which is very much true, considering the rowdy behaviour these teachers have to face. Sometimes, I do feel frustrated with some of my "supposed" teachers. But I do not blame them for whatever is going on now.

Indeed, teaching IS a noble profession in this brave, new world.

Emisiunea de pe Antena 1 se presupune că a fost înregistrată chiar în săptămâna ce tocmai s-a încheiat, deci în plin scandal. Ea ştia foarte bine ce a clănţănit (...) pardon cântat, şi putea foarte bine să ceară nedifuzarea acelui fragment. Se rezolva uşor, nu se supăra nimeni, se presupunea că a făcut asta nu pentru că are ceva de ascuns ci pentru că ţine la imaginea partidului din care face parte, ai căror membri (...) au înroşit liniile telefoanelor după ce au văzut imaginile. Putea s-o bage (...) pe-asta cu "apariţia mea nu a fost conformă cu standardele de conduită ale partidului"-adică prosti(...tuî)nduse în opincuţe la tv.

Legendă: (...)-refugiu pietonal pentru minţile bolnave. Staţionaţi, odihniţi-vă imaginaţia hiperactivă, treceţi mai departe.

Post Scriptum: Pe blogspot am găsit postul unei ziariste din data de 30.10.2007, deci de acum aproape un an. Pe vremea când noi beam lăptic şi habar n-aveam de nimic alţii ştiau ceea ce plebei îi este servit doar atunci când este nevoie, adică înainte de campania electorală de exemplu. Citez un singur fragmenţel: "Ana Birchall, (FOTO mic) femeia lui Geoană în partid, preşedinta Departamentului Educaţie al PSD... bla bla". Restul aici. De fapt, nu daţi click decât dacă vreţi să verificaţi sursa, nu e nimic interesant. Nu insinuez nimic, fiecare interpretează cum are chef ;)

450.000 - "investitie" din banii publici

1. La un prim calcul nu prea ies la socoteala banii... o medie de 200.000 euro pe oras (Torino, Milano si Roma) inseamna multisor... piata publica este gratuita iar publicitatea pre-eveniment a fost practic inexistata.

2. Pe pliantele oficiale este trecuta o singura asociatie a romanilor din Italia (care a participat cu circa 2 voluntari, restul pana la 120 provenind de la alte organizatii non-profit). Apoi, modul in care a fost organizat spatiul duce cu gandul la pripa si disperare: tot voluntarii au fost baza, pliantele alb/negru multiplicate ad-hoc la un copiator au fost distribuite vineri (cu doua zile inainte de eveniment).

3. Consulul interimar a jucat pasiv ascultand sfaturile doar a doua persoane, cu state vechi de plata prin diverse guverne si partide, asociatii si structuri care mai de care mai interesante; faptul a dus la proteste din partea celorlalte asociatii, care spera ca mr. L. sa se trezeasca, sa ia contact cu realitatea din teren si sa plece urechea catre realul vox populi (chiar asa, mr. L., "porgerLe" nu are nici o legatura cu Acuzativul, in nici o gramatica din lume - doamna dorea doar sa va lase impresia ca stie despre ce vorbeste).

Ambele "proiecte" de spalare a imaginii par din afara lipsite de profesionalism si organizate amatorial. Nu am idee ce tipuri de studii sociologice au organizat sociologii dar eu ca roman nu ma simt in nici un caz reprezentat de olarit, oua incondeiate, sculpturi in lemn sau sarmale. E drept ca acestea fac parte din trecutul nostru, din evolutie, dar intre timp lucrurile au evoluat. Chiar daca italienii apreciaza ouale noastre si se induioseaza la vederea oalelor de acum 2000 de ani (poate e doar nostalgie?) noi intre timp ne-am schimbat. Spalarea asta e un soi de mozoleala, mai mult... zoaie poate ar fi termenul mai potrivit.

On Saturday, October 11, HRC volunteers will be doing Program Ad Sales Blitzes in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh from 9 AM to 1 PM. After a brief orientation, you will break into small teams and visit businesses in your local community to provide information about the HRC Carolinas Gala. The focus will be on selling advertising space in the program that is distributed to everyone who attends the Gala.
