Yay! I'm turning 25!!

And to celebrate, I'm going to send one awesome person one of my handmade porcelain mugs! All you have to do to be entered to win is to post a comment with one fact about the year 1983. It can be historical, personal or pop-culture trivia. I'll start:

1983 was the year I was born (woot!).

It was the year Michael Jackson broadcast Thriller, and the year that President Ronald Reagan created Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Nov. 2.

1983 also saw the death of master playwright Tennessee Williams and famous jazz-man Muddy Waters, as well as the birth of modern pop star Amy Winehouse.

1. Everyone around here has a cracked windshield. About 2 weeks ago the windshield of our truck was hit right on the edge by a rock. There is a one foot crack in the window that grows and grows. On Monday we went the the car dealership to get a quote on replacing the windshield, which was much lower than we anticipated...we almost fixed it on the spot, but decided to wait a little longer. The next day we drove to Colorado Springs. A huge semi-truck threw a rock at us and cracked the other side of our windshield... Very glad we didn't replace it yet.

2. I also won an online contest where you post a comment and a winner is randomly selected. I was post #211 and I won a set of Hero Arts stamps!!! Pretty cool! I am also planning on starting a blog to show some of the cards I've been making lately, so stay tuned for that.

3. Webb and I had a good time in Tucson which included me getting to wear my goggles and Webb informing me that I looked silly. Webb also took a test and did very well on it, we got his scores just the other day.

4. Next semi-weekend we are planning a camping trip. We aren't sure where we are going to go yet, but we have all the appropriate gear (we hope)...

So, for a bit of fun, I'm going to have a contest! I know there are some out there will graphical skills, so I'd like to see what you can do to make a new header picture. It should be your interpretation of what the blog/Darien Caldwell/Dari's Haus represents or symbolizes to you. :) Here are the rules:

1) The picture must be at a resolution of 780 pixels wide by 95 pixels tall, and be submitted as a TGA file.

2) No In-world submissions please! All submissions should be emailed to me at darien_caldwell[at]comcast.net (of course put the proper @ in place of [at])

3) Multiple submissions are allowed.

4) Pictures from my Flickr may be used as source material by participants. (I'll be uploading some more later today)

5) As I like having this blog open and accessible to all, I would ask there be no nudity.

6) The winner will be chosen by Darien Caldwell, based upon criteria such as, quality of work, creativity, How well it blends with the rest of the blog theme, as well as other points.

7) Deadline for entries is Sept 12th.

So what is the prize? The picture I like the best will be used on the blog, of course. In addition The winner will receive 15,000L as a token of my gratitude. I will also select a 2nd and 3rd place entry, 2nd place receiving 5,000L and 3rd place will receive 1,500L.
