Most of my real knowledge of most reality shows comes from watching The Soup every week. But, I'm a sucker for the audition shows. There are truly no words for some of them.

I'm sure that studies could be performed regarding how diluted a person can become. Of course, I love to sing. If you drive by me on the freeway on any given day, I may look like I'm performing to a stadium packed with adoring fans :o) but I know I could NEVER go on any talent show audition. I know that I can't sing. Even if I daydream of doing it at some point. I know I can't.

But what happens in the minds of people that go on shows like American Idol? Have they gone mad? Do they actually have friends that tell them "Go for it?". As a matter of fact, these people must have the WORST friends ever!

Some of them obviously do it for the attention, and know they'll never make it. Maybe they think they can get their 15 minutes of fame out of it, as there are many of us who LOVE those bad auditions...

But for some, it actually looks like they "think" they can make it. They look like their heart has been broken, like they would have NEVER expected to hear those "No's"  from the judges. (Or hear them snickering and laughing in the background...)

Just think about it. The nerve and courage it takes to show up to one of those mass auditions... Being judged and taped and ogled by so many people... And then to hear that you stink. Wow. That sucks.

Having said that. I'm glad that people go to these auditions. Bad and good. Whether they do it for the 15 mins or whether they think they have a chance. They make for some very interesting television. Some very interesting commentary on the state of our society and well, they are fun!

So, here are my top 10. I'm sure that the list will grow and change. I'm also sure that you can think of others yourself (go ahead and share if you'd like!). But these are my current top 10 in no particular order. (Yes, no particular order, because they are all unique and special in their own way!)

Little Miss Talbot, at the whopping age of 6, nearly won last year's season of Britain's Got Talent (the British version of American Idol). I didn't know this -- I don't keep up with current events in the media world -- so her debut may be old news, but I just heard her for the first time and became an instant fan! I believe the song below is from her new album, not from her performances on BGT. Listen close about 2 minutes in, and remember, she's only 6 years old.

 charlie green was a finalists in Britain's Got talent.. where he was noticed when he sang "summer wind"..^_^..(love it)..unfortunately he didnt won the competition..it even created controversies..!! waaahhh.. but atleast he was noticed and he is now idolized by many not only in brotain but also in other countries..great job green..were truly proud of you!!

I never followed Britain's Got Talent nor America's Got Talent, therefore, I  never knew who Charlie Green was. I've seen his name popped up in Youtube but I never really bothered taking a peek at him.

As I was searching for Charice's Maalaala Mo Kaya posting, I ran across a video where Charice had a brief but lovely duet with Charlie Green. Apparently, Charlie Green, the half Brit and half Filipino,  was a finalist in the Britain's Got Talent and was hailed in the Philippines not just for the fact he has a Filipino blood in him but also because the child can really sing.

Charlie Green arrived in the Philippines on July 24th and basically appeared in most TV shows. He expressed his desire to have a duet with Charice on one of his TV guestings. Sure enough, his wish was granted and Charlie had an acapella duet with the international singing diva who just arrived from Italy. They sang  Smile by Nat King Cole (video courtesy of pinoybluelame).

They sounded so great and they looked good together, if you know what I mean :).  Check the video below and hear these 2 singing wonders and fall in love with them like I did:

An English Lad and His Sparkly, Spangly Baton

There are times when a seemingly unimportant story surprisingly ends up being very emotionally touching, evoking strong feelings of caring warmth. And so it is with the scenario about this English lad, a 2007 contestant on the English television show Britain's Got Talent. In the first video presented below, a soft-spoken, shy Craig Womersley first appears onstage in a glittering, twinkling costume and bashfully tells the judges that his talent is baton-twirling. Most people would gird themselves to endure and wince at a performance like this, destined to surely turn out to be painfully miserable.

But when one of the judges asks him what his parents think about his baton-twirling, with a quivering voice Craig reveals that he's been keeping his baton-twirling a secret from his parents for many years. They had long ago forbid him to continue with the baton-twirling. In his family, only his supportive elderly grandmother knows about his baton-twirling (she is in the wings waiting to watch his performance; neither of his parents are present).

When the lad launches into his routine accompanied by the uplifting strains of Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, the audience immediately goes absolutely mad, cheering and clapping with excitement. I challenge your heart not to be warmed by the closing scene, in which each of the amazed judges gives a glowing opinion in describing his performance. With the soft strains of James Blunt's You're Beautiful piping in the background, Craig tears up with barely concealed joy as each of the judges praises him. They are very touching moments.

The second video presents Craig's second performance on Britain's Got Talent a few weeks later. At the beginning of the video, before his performance, Craig breaks down crying when talking about having to keep the thing that has been of greatest importance to him a secret for so many years. Now out of the closet, about his baton-twirling, his parents have come to the show and are in the audience to watch him perform. I refuse to be a spoiler about how all of this turns out. But watch it and perhaps, just maybe you might have a personal experience of touching, tender and heartwarming feelings.

Like for a couple of days. (I read some comments on YouTube and this one person took 15 years to find this song - oh dear that's 15 years of agony)

I tried Midomi - sang and hummed on it for just about a hundred times. No less.

Came up with no matches.

I mean I cannot really blame it - after all the song does not have much sensible lyrics to begin with...

Then I finally got my song!

It's by Enya (again yes I know - previously my post on Midomi also featured Enya - I guess she's my favorite singer!) and the song is called Adiemus.

For those who wants to know, Enya's song was a cover from Adiemus (the group/singer).

There are some songs available on the Internet mistakenly attributed to Enya. Some examples are Harry's Game or Adiemus. Harry's Game was released by Clannad and Adiemus is from a group called "Adiemus", some songs from "Enigma" were labeled "Enya" as well. There's also a bootleg from Eastern Europe called "Solas". This album was written by Ron Hardiman. The producer of this bootleg used Enya's name for their product. Please note that on this website are listed all songs Enya has ever released.

More research on the song tells me that this song was written by a Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins.

Adiemus is the name of the song and an ensemble for Jenkins compositions.

The lyrics consists of words created by Jenkins himself and has no sense, and in which the voices are used like instruments for the music. Miriam Stockley is the person who sang the original.

This song is phenomenal. It brings us back to a time when we were free.

Free from everything around us.

**UPDATE**: I just found out that Karl Jenkins and Adiemus performed the Palladio - the same song which got Escala popular in Britain's Got Talent!

The Escala girls are soo hot!

**UPDATE AGAIN**: Apparently there's another string quartet called Bond - and they played the same song called Allegretto - I think they just might be better than Escala!
